Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 2, 2026
The short version
Dispatch is an AI-powered tech blog. We collect only what we need to run the site — your email and display name when you create an account, and standard server logs when you visit. We don't sell your data, we don't run ads, and we don't track you across the web.
What we collect
Account information
When you create an account, we store your email address and display name. If you sign in with GitHub or Google, we receive your name and email from those providers. You may also upload a profile photo, which we store in our hosting infrastructure.
User-generated content
Comments you post on articles are stored alongside your user ID. If you delete your account, your comments remain visible but are disassociated from your identity and shown as anonymous.
Saved articles & preferences
We store which articles you bookmark and your newsletter preferences (notification types, timezone) to provide these features.
Server logs
Our hosting provider (Vercel) collects standard web server logs including IP addresses, browser type, and pages visited. These are used for performance monitoring and abuse prevention, and are retained per Vercel's data retention policy.
How we use your data
- To provide your account and let you comment on articles
- To send you newsletter emails you've opted into
- To send transactional emails (verification, password reset)
- To prevent abuse (rate limiting, spam detection)
That's it. We don't build advertising profiles, sell data to third parties, or use your information for any purpose beyond running Dispatch.
Third-party services
We use a small number of services to operate the site:
- Supabase — authentication and database hosting
- Vercel — website hosting and edge delivery
- Resend — transactional and newsletter emails
- Google OAuth / GitHub OAuth — optional sign-in providers
Each of these services has their own privacy policy governing how they handle data that passes through their systems.
Cookies
We use cookies solely for authentication — keeping you signed in across page loads. We do not use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or advertising cookies.
Data retention & deletion
You can delete your account at any time from your profile page. This permanently removes your profile, email, avatar, and newsletter subscription. Comments you've posted will remain as anonymous contributions.
Children's privacy
Dispatch is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we may notify registered users via email.
